Based on their voting, it's what they want.
    You are exactly right.

I'll give Kimberly Foxx credit for one thing; she told voters how she would run the DA's office and she's doing exactly what she promised during the campaign. That approach got her elected in 2016 and reelected in 2020.

She's not running for reelection this year but does anyone want to bet on the next DA being a "tough on crime" candidate? I'll take the wager.

"The husband and wife were walking on the street when they were surrounded by an unknown number of teens Friday evening near Grand Avenue and McClurg Court, FOX 32 Chicago reported."

How might the outcome have changed if both victims were carrying and had a base level of training?
Nobody knows but I think it would have been a different and probably better outcome.

The number of attackers was reported at 10 in a different article. Regardless, the possibility of multiple attackers is one reason I settled on 9mm as my carry caliber.

I was told nobody needs more than 10 rounds.

Well, many people get their ideas of guns, from movies.
And in the movies, all the henchmen take one shot to the arm, and are out of the fight.
Only the main character takes more than one shot.

So, they assume with 10 shots, you can kill 10 people.
