I'm also a fan of bookshelves that act as false walls. Wish I had one that opened up to a bug out room with food, water, guns and surveillance. 0_o

Just looking at that pic, the stringer is the same as a normal stair would be. As long as everything sat down tight to that stringer when its closed, I dont know that you would feel anything out of the ordinary. Wrapping in carpet probably helps silence any minor squeaks that may come from this mod.
