Catalpa Worms

Does anyone get catalpa worms anymore. I've checked lots of trees around here and never found any. It seems like they have been gone for the last 10 years.

Does anyone get catalpa worms anymore. I've checked lots of trees around here and never found any. It seems like they have been gone for the last 10 years.

When I was a kid we got/found them after the Mulberries were well ripe. Pick n eat mulberries and gather the catalpas between trees as we went. That night, cat fishing.

Have not seen a Catalpa tree in quite a while.

In HS my buddy had a tree that was covered with them. Haven't seen one in years.

I had one tree behind my shop I finely cut down. Two older guys here in town would stop and ask if they could get the worms off of it every year. I gerteled the two mulberry trees next to it. They need to be cut down this year.
I don't recall seeing any worms under the leaves myself.

Seems like some trees never have the worms, we had a Catalpa tree in the yard when I was growing up. It never had the worms but there was a small grove of Catalpa trees a few miles thar were full of the worms every year. Jim.

If you are anywhere near a local municipality or neighborhood that sprays for mosquitos.....they are all gone!

We've got a couple of very large catalpa's alongside the road. I had someone stop and ask for permission to gather the worms as well but I've not seen any in the six summers we're been here.
