i was nervous the first time at blue chip but they dont fuss about it at all. What they do want you to do that nobody else mentioned is to not unholster your gun and check it with the holster.
Weird, when I went to French Lick a few months ago, I told the security guy I needed to lock up a firearm and they took me into the room where he had me put it in a locker and wished me luck. I think he asked for my ID and wrote my name down in the log. When I was leaving I told the security that I needed to retrieve my checked firearm and went into the room where the guy (different guy than checked it in) asked to see my id and checked it against the log and unlocked the locker for me to retrieve my firearm.
Everybody was very cool about it and the security when I checked out shared that he does not leave the house unarmed either.
When they asked for my ID, I assumed it was to verify who I was so they logged the gun in under the right name and returned the right gun to the right guy on the other end.
There you go that is the procedure at French lick casino. Although the lead officer or above shall verify the person has a ltch or permit depending on state and a state ID or drivers license or government issue ID to log the name in our log. For verification of the person the gun will be returned to. Source me. Lead security officer at FLR.
Note I was also present at the time the person in this thread refused to provide an id. Sir I to understand that There is no legal right for us to ask for your id. I also know that the person you spoke to handled the situation poorly. But if we cannot verify your I'd with our log book. When you return to obtain your weapon how do we know you didn't drop the key and someone was attempting to take your weapon? It will not always be the same person returning your weapon that secured it. Or if you lost your key we can still return the weapon after verifying your ID.
Any questions can be pm'd to me and i will answer them to the best of my knowledge.
I also carry everywhere but at work. Carry on.
Just a bump here- Was at Horseshoe today and asked if they still had a firearms check. They do, and were very polite about the inquiry.
Indiana casino regulations ( 68 IAC 1-7-1) require all casinos to provide a secure storage option to check your weapon.
So . . . now that the casinos don't have to offer secure storage (and most won't if they don't have to), doesn't that make the parking lots more attractive to thieves and muggers? You're going to have money going into the casino, but not your gun. Some people will have money and sometimes a lot of money on their way to their car.
Not a good situation.
Every casino except for the one with the waiver has to provide you a secure storage area. Waivers are per gaming licessee not state wide. Now if you complained to the gaming commision about not haveing storage on property for that one casino (assuming that is only one with waiver) im sure they would revoke it say you took a cab to the casino and don't have a vehicle to lock up your weapon in. IGC could revoke the waiver. If given a reason they see fit.
