Can you convert an 870 slug gun back to iron sights ?

A buddy bought this for his wife for Christmas http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/cms_widgets/25/72/2572460_assets/Remington_870_Express_Combo.jpg , to late to take it back and she hates shooting with the scope.

Is there a cost effective way to put iron sights on without buying a new barrel ?

I would put the barrel in the classifieds, someone would probably swap you one with iron sights.

Cheapest way would to be to trade that barrel for an iron sighted one.

If she doesn't like a scope, has she tried a red dot on the cantilever?

If she has the combo, there are clamp on sights for the vent rib.

My LGS has used 870 20 ga matte slug bbls. I'll check on prices today. After deer season..........the rifled ones should be decent in price anywhere.
The smoothbores hold value a little better since everybody wants them for HD.

To put regular iron sights on the cantilever bbl would require the removal of the base, and soldering new sights on.
Sights, plus labor...........it'd be cheaper to just trade your cantilever barrel off.

Is the barrel rifled? Finding a rifled barrel with sights is sometimes hard to do. I see (and have) quite a few 20" smoothbores with rifle sights, but not rifled barrels.

Rifled bbls w iron sights were dust collectors all summer.
People seemed to want 18.5" instead of 20" (and smoothbore).

Deer season over.............might be a great time to score a deal.

You can buy replacement barrels at many locations. You can pick rifled bore, or smooth bore depending on what you want to shoot and pick your sights also.

I swapped scopes on my rifled cantilevered barrel for a Leupold Pig-Plex (VX-R) scope with an illuminated Red Dot and it is much better than the original scope supplied with the barrel that you have.

Get a used bbl.
New prices are crazy.
Deer barrels after season should be at great prices.

Not a fan of cantilever barrels. Esp when folks use them with field (low comb) stocks.

Do think the rifle sight Remchoke bbls to be kinda cool. Can use for turkey or deer with choke tube changes.
