Why should a single Afghan have been removed from the country before every American was safely out?
For the democratic votes!
Why should a single Afghan have been removed from the country before every American was safely out?
Why are you guys mad these brave men and women who fought shoulder-to-shoulder with our troops, who had the wherewithal to stand up to a centuries old totalitarian regime, who in the end were dying by the thousands instead of our boys, should come to find refuge here?
As many of the SF community have commented, these translators and allies are often more patriotic and pro-democracy than the average American.
Shouldn't we be thankful to have that sort of person here?
Absolutely, if you can 100% guarantee that's who we're getting.
EXCLUSIVE: Convicted rapist reached the U.S. on Afghan evacuation flight
A man who had been convicted of rape and deported from the U.S. was allowed to board an Afghan evacuation flight and reach America, law enforcement sources say.www.washingtontimes.com
I've Worked with Refugees for Decades. Europe's Afghan Crime Wave Is Mind-Boggling.
Afghans stand out among the refugees committing crimes in Austria and elsewhere. Why?nationalinterest.org
I need to find the source but the SIV “ticket” to get on an evac plane was a document with no unique marks that was e-mailed en masse. Anyone who wanted one was a printer or copy machine away from getting one.Are you saying out military would do a bad job and evacuate the wrong people? Or not vet them once they're in Atterbury?
I think anyone who understands geopolitics and the usage of foreign allies in combat has no problem with that. The problem is the pecking order at which the evacuations were made. Under no uncertain terms, the order SHOULD have been:Why are you guys mad these brave men and women who fought shoulder-to-shoulder with our troops, who had the wherewithal to stand up to a centuries old totalitarian regime, who in the end were dying by the thousands instead of our boys, should come to find refuge here?

At Atterbury. Potentially many thousands more across the country. I get what you're saying about the ones that helped us, but I just don't have a lot of confidence in the vetting process. It's just 5,000 people
https://www.eaglecountryonline.com/...terbury-to-temporarily-house-afghan-evacuees/ isn't it interesting
The Secretary of Defense today approved Camp Atterbury in Indiana as a site to temporarily house Afghan evacuees in support of Operation Allies Refuge.
Also works for martinsville.
Especially when the taliban was controlling the outside of the airport. Call me skeptical, but I’m betting they did a little vetting of their own.At Atterbury. How do we know this isn't the order, or a near-facsimile based on reasonable opportunity and logistics?
Seems like a lot of speculation on the part of this forum.
Afghans laid down their lives in the tens of thousands in the final years of the war, with Americans not losing a single life in the later stages.
It's just 5,000 people. Certainly a small component of the Afghan military that proudly fought shoulder to shoulder with our men and women. Should we deny them entry and safe haven because a handful of people were unable to get to the airport in the initial airlifts? Are we that callous that we would leave our allies to die while we concern ourselves with exclusively "our own" people?
Why are we throwing a fit that Afghan heroes are escaping certain death? Because it vaguely inconveniences us?
One hundred percent. Our military and the State Department are the opposite of competent and there is ample photographic evidence that who got on the plane in Kabul was primarily determined by one's ability to climb over other people. Are you saying out military would do a bad job and evacuate the wrong people? Or not vet them once they're in Atterbury?
