We were on vacation recently & drove thru Kansas. Western Kansas has some real possibilities as a BOL, I think.

It has low population density, wind for power, pasture for livestock & productive land for crops.

Those states have bullseyes on them for tornados, hail and straight line wind storms. WTSHTF, you won't have Home Depot to go to for repairs. Don't underestimate the blessing of this state in terms of geography. With the exception of some areas, we are relatively protected from some of the most catastrophic natural disasters.

And unlike western Kansas,Indiana has all kinds of surface water and many more inches per year precipitation.

    Cons...
Water is often scarce in good years.
The Ground is not really that productive for crop production nor Livestock Production.
    Severe weather is the Norm.

I only thought trailer parks had bullseyes on them when it came to tornados? :dunno:
