Hurt Locker and Full Metal Jacket because they mess with your head.

Inglorious Bastards - Just entertaining and gruesome

I could think of a couple more that are not so realistic and deal more with the supernatural but that is another time and place.

Not a "movie" per say, but I really like RESTREPO. Good documentary with zero commentary or narration, just day to day footage and a really good book.

    True movie-wise,............
    Saving Private Ryan
    Blackhawk Down
    Band of Brothers is excellent

Lots of really great movies listed so far.

One of my favorites is a movie about a Soviet T-55 tank crew that gets separated from their unit in Afghanistan circa early 80's, I believe it was called "The Beast" or something like that, it's definitely worth checking out if you have never seen it.

The Great Escape with Steve McQueen was another good one and one of my favories was "BattleGround" also Bridge over the River Kwai and Stalag 17 and ofcourse who could forget "The Green Berets"

That is one of the greatest fo' sho'! I still get a lil sensitive at the end when the guys singing their cadence, all beat up and dirty, pull themselves together when they pass the fresh troops going to the front.

"you had a good home, and you left... you're right"

I'm watching "The Pacific" for about the third time. I also read the book, big difference. The book had more characters. Another good movie is "Is Paris Burning".
