I am in the mood for a new shotgun and looking for semi auto where i can exchange barrels if for deer hunting looking for under $400...any suggestions???
I have been using a Winchester 1500XTR for 25+ years. It was my first auto-loader and I picked it up at a police auction for $175 I don't know what they are going for now.
All I can say is that the only failures I have had with it were AL MY FAULT !!!! It functions smoothly and reliably everytime.
I picked up a used Rem 1100 about 15 years ago and it is fantastic ............. but I can't make myself use it for deer hunting because I am so comfortable with the Win 1500
Good luck. Take your time. Don't worry about cost as much as you do quality and making sure it is a good match/fit to YOU !!!
hope don't jink it but i have a stoger i got in a trade deal it is a new model 2000 with the benn drive it looks just like my buddy super black eagle and i have shoot well over 5000 rounds thru it myself in the last 2 months and have had no trouble out of it.
I got a CZ-712 with a 20 vent rib(they had 26-28" also) barrel, 5 screw in chokes new just below $400 at KS&E. I've fired around 100 rds through it, works fine with full power loads.Fiochi 1 1/8 oz low brass works, winAA 1 1/8doesn't. It's very light and kicks bad to me for a gas op. semi auto.
Thats a pretty shotty Chef. I have the Express 11-87, she's all work no pretty, it dosen't like light loads though. I dont mind taking her to the field,or the water.
Thanks, I traded an AR for her. I am not quite used to her yet still only gettin 20 and 22's on trap nite. Hopefully I will soon be able to get back out to the range, I haven't been out in about a month...
I don't think Remington is selling/importing them anymore but if you can find one, the Spartan spr453 is probably about the best cheap semiauto you can find for the money. I bought one a few years ago for less than $200 and it has been a great gun. The fit and finish may not be as nice as some but it is extremely reliable. Mine is a 28" barrel and will handle everything from 2-3/4" field loads to 3-1/2" mags with no problem or no adjustment to the gas system. As far as i know there are no rifled barrels for them but it will handle rifled slugs just fine with the included IC choke or you coud possible find a rifled choke for sabots. These were made in Russia by Baikal(sp?) and i think they are also know as the Baikal MP 153.
