Just a guess, but I don't think it was likely that he was ever on the 'gainful employment' track. Now he has a felony. Will never have truly gainful employment, and will most likely continue a life of crime.
Working within and out of Federal Prisons for over 20 years. When someone gets less than the minimum guidelines in a serious case (we aren’t talking tax, Medicare or college admission Scandal on this one) where firearms are involved it’s because he told on someone OR completely coped to it (which from the evidence sounds like he was hit anyway)Local prosecutor would have gotten a longer sentence for commercial burglary. Low end on that is 2 years. Probably could have gotten him to plea to 2 years by scaring him with 12. What a weak federal prosecutor.
Federal felonies cannot be expunged. No legal firearms for him, ever. Thats worse than the 14 months.
