There's "can they?" Then there's "can they legally?"
The answer to #2 is "No"
Hell, it's like putting people on the "no fly list" with zero due process.

Hmmm...I have a lot of things on my "I need (want) list". Maybe I should check several off that list all at once so I can get some exercise.Exercise your “NO” muscle.
Working this muscle out often might be a benefit to the community as a whole.
He sure as hell wasn't there to protect the gun owner and to make sure his rights weren't violated. Like someone else pointed out, I wonder what the reaction would have been if the gun owner had turned to the trooper and said, "I want these ATF agents trespassed off my property can you escort them?"Since state troopers do not enforce federal firearms laws, his presence was for purposes of intimidation.
Realistically, I think Leadeye nailed it pretty well in his post above.I viewed the video and agree with a majority of the disgruntled posts. I do, however, have a question that can probably be answered by members. Is the ATF routinely "as a matter of practice" doing this to multiple purchase individuals or is it done on a random "luck of the draw" basis? Either way, I, too, strongly object.
According to MrGunsNGear's video, this is new orders from the Biden administration to the ATF to go do these "knock and talks" on 3310.4 multiple purchases.I viewed the video and agree with a majority of the disgruntled posts. The only purpose is to harass the law-abiding gun owners and to let us know, "we know who you are."
True straw purchasers for improper persons, those guns show up on the streets or at crime scenes... which they rarely prosecute either the straw purchaser or the felon with a gun under federal law... which is what would actually affect street violence.
For me: #JustSayNo
Love Sheriff's that actually uphold the oath they swore to protect. There are some good ones in the PNW.Sheriff: Residents should tell ATF agents conducting warrantless gun inspections to leave
A Washington state sheriff recently advised residents in his county that if agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) come to their homes without a search warrant asking to inspect their firearms, they can tell them to leave their property.www.washingtontimes.com
Interesting story and it mentions it happening here in Indiana.
It does not one thing to stop "straw purchasing".how is this going to stop straw purchases? how soon after the purchase did the cops show up?
a few days? guy just needs to wait a while before moving the items...
a year after? just say you gave it away.. or had a boat accident...
i seriously doubt straw buyers are purchasing several at once , because they don't want it reported ..
No excuse. Either do your job or quit. If they ain’t up to risking it in the hood, they need to admit their fear and resign. they could use the ruby ridge or waco plan in the hood if they are scared.I figure their bosses in dc said that they need to make so many follow ups of multiple purchases. Produces numbers that doj wants to see, and provide media shows. They don't specify that they have to do this in the course of an investigation or even go to areas of suspected illegal gun trafficking, just get recorded follow ups on a sheet that can be backed up if somebody questions it.
Given this goal, nobody doing these follow ups is going to the hood. They will hit the burbs close by, nicer restaurants and more polite people. Going into the areas of high illegal gun trafficking will at best get you charged with racism by the activists and worst, shot at by the locals.
Put yourself in their shoes, where would you go to complete some ridiculous directive from an old chicago machine hack working for a senile leader.
