I like the DPMS Repr model. Nice base gun in 308, you can add what you want from there. I think they run in the $1200 range.

You will definitely want to check into the pricing of extra magazines. They can be really salty.

I picked up an Armalite AR-10 National Match and used it to build up into my own version of a SASS. That way I allready started with a match barrel and trigger. I think it turned out nice.

Are you familiar with .300BLK?? Its a .308 bullet in a .223 case that can be shot from the standard AR-15 sized platform. Might be worth looking into.

300 BLK is a blast 7.62x35 FTW!

Take a look at RRA. They make a pretty nice 308.
