    If willing to step out of your comfort zone, I suggest "The Dresden Files" by Jim Butcher. It's a sci-fi / fantasy read set in Chicago that follows a Wizard who is a private investigator.

    If you love a smartass type of comedy then you'll love the series! I've read it about 4 times now and can't wait for the next one to come out.

    I love this series. I just finished the last one right in the middle of finals. Currently my wife is reading it. His other series "Codex Alera" wasn't bad either.

    Along those lines, Brandon Sanderson has a lot of good books too.

    For humor reading, the Hitchhikers Guide is great. Douglas Adams had some seriously funny ideas in those books.

    Currently readying Guardian Angel by William Sine. About Airforce PJ's
    Tsangar, Langidgal, The Bone Yard all by James Christ. All of his books cover one battle and they are more like mini books. Really enjoyed the Bone Yard..

    Horse Soldiers was also good.
