Academy is my favorite large sporting goods store. Think Gander but with reasonable to really good prices. I make sure to stop by one every time I visit my family in Arkansas.

Never been to one of their stores, but I have seen some pretty good firearm prices on their site.

Maybe they'll eventually come to the Indy area.

Their prices blow dick's out of the water, gander isn't even in the same league. Hopefully they continue northern migration to indy

I was recently in Texas and naturally I stopped in. They had lower prices on some things (outdoorsy clothing) but guns and ammo closely resembled Gander Mountain. If it creates competition related price drops then great. Otherwise, I'd be indifferent.

The one I go to in TX is next to a Gander Mtn, not sure how you can make the comparison of them being similarly priced? I bought a slingshot band at Academy for half the price of what gander wanted, ammo was cheaper than both gander and dick's too. They actually had .22 when I was there last and the it was considerably cheaper than the price on the empty shelf at gander. 9mm was cheaper too.
