things like this is why dave ramsey say you need 3-6 months of expenses set aside as an emergency
Agreed, but in this economy of everything going up but wages, and many laid off or with hours cut, it's kinda hard for most. If they did have money set aside, there's a good chance they've already had to use it.

Ill tell all those not getting paid that there families are not effected. Just sayin.

Just like all us Obamacare "beneficiaries" were not affected... or our premiums did not go up... or the deficit didn't rise one dime... or we get to keep our insurance or our doctor...

FTFY. English isn't the law, but it's still a damn good idea.

Please do tell, what are their roles, those that they won't be getting paid?

Many are just filling seats at desks in a long chain of BS generated by Gov. to say they created jobs. Ever spent any time in a state or fed. Gov. facility???

I am unemployed today. One entire day wage gone that won't come back. It will happen every week until this shutdown bs gets settled. Guess it don't effect my family, tho, because I will still get paid biweekly. Just have less money in the check.

People are lucky to have a job, let alone this

I make less then probably everybody else here that still have a job, but my fines are the same as those making 100k...talk about fair.

I'm utilizing the last remaining funds of my GI bill right now. I'm not sure if or how it will be affected though. Typically, when these things happen we don't get any notice. It's simply a decrease in the pay you were expecting and you're on your own to figure out how to come up with the rest of what you were counting on. Having been that student which completely relies on that income to pay for their housing, it SUCKS when that type of thing happens.

The Givernment, largely controlled by appointed (non elected) progressives, is going to make sure they keep their base happy. Their goal is to beat down the working folks, demoralize them and bring them into the hand out lines.

I totally agree with what you're saying, but please stop using their newly minted soft speak ... they are Socialists ... Communists ... Marxists … and maybe a few other *ists.

What they are not is progressive. They are the very opposite of progressive.

Yet, if we continue use their definition of words and to play by their rules (both of which change to suit their nefarious activities), then we play right into their hands and will lose.

Amen Brother! My family is in the process of building our emergency fund and then get on with steps 4 & 5 (and the rest). Unfortunately, we already have kids in college, so the steps are a bit muddied.

I sure wish I had been taught Uncle Dave's method when I was younger.

On the bright side, my kids are learning right along side of us how to live debt free.

Progressive is far from newly minted. And FWIW, they don't want to be called progressive because it embodies all of the 'ists' and 'isms' combined. None subscribe to only one, they cherry pick from each to enrich themselves, confuse the populace, and avoid being 'labeled'.

When dealing with them, it's always best to remember that whenever they speak, think the opposite becuse that is ultimately their intent.

So because I make more than you do I should have to pay more in Obomacare fines? How does that make any sense. Using your logic then since I consume roughly the same amount of services as you(1 for 1) do then I should not have to pay more taxes because I make more than you do.

Actually, I think his "complaint" is the opposite. He makes LESS than you do, but is hit with the same fine. Someone $1 over the cut-off has the same fine as someone $10,000 over the cut-off.

The "old" system was bad enough. We had to go an "fix" it by making it worse.

eldirector is correct...if somebody and myself have to pay the same fines...err...tax, but I make less then the other guy, I'm at a financial disadvantage. I think nobody should be paying any fines...err...taxes on healthcare, in fact I think obamacare should have never been passed. There will be hell to pay, unfortunately the average joe will be the ones paying the bill.

The crux of your argument is something I flip flop on all the time. Some things I think should hurt 1 to 1, and others I think should be graduated based on ability (ie everybody's wallet hurts equally).

Why should the Federal Government be hurting anyone?

Because all taxes hurt. You want to see how much people love their country? Announce that no more taxes would be assessed against the public, and that the govt would only continue to substain itself based on contributions from the public. We'd be invaded in 2 weeks, lol.
