My .223 and .300 are zeroed at 36 yards. With the .223, that gives me a 5.5" group from 25 yards out to 300 yards. The .300 is way different, especially running subs. Really, it depends on the purpose of the rifle and how comfortable you are with the zero. Either way, you gotta know your hold over if you are shooting targets. My best advice, pick one and learn the holdovers. As long as you know where the bullet is going each time, it really doesn't matter.

I like this 62y near zero, 190y far zero for my 68gr Hornady Frontiers. Stays nice and flat right at only 1" high at the "apex" in the 100-150 range. I like experimenting with different factors, scope height, bullet weight/velocity, zero range to see how it affects trajectory.

Been looking at a couple different options on zeroing my ar. Vigilance elite talks a lot about the pros of a 36 yard zero and also make targets for it. Just wondering on what everybody else’s thought and what there zero is
Depending on the rifle barrel length, caliber, and velocity for me.

My 5.56x45mm, 6.5 Grendel, 308-win are all shot in at 50yds. This allows me to just hold directly on target from 0-200yds.

My 7.62x39mm is shot in at 35yds so I can basically do the same with it out to 200yds.
