Is a S&W a serious upgrade to a Targus?
YES but Taurus is s decent gun for the money.

I've been shooting a .357 S&W Model 686 revolver and it is hard to beat - period! These revolvers will usually outshoot and outgun most any pistol especially at longer ranges. Go ahead and try to shoot a wild hog at 25-50 yards with your 9mm auto? The pig will shrug it off. Try it with a heavy load .357 magnum; say a handloaded 180gn Hornady XTP over a stiff load of 2400 and the pig goes down! Get a 6" S&W 686 .357 magnum and let the fun begin.
I had a 586 6" a long time ago and sold it. Now I am back in the market though it pains me to pay probably close to double what I sold mine for. I also have a Model 617 with a 4" barrel. I was thinking this time around going with a 4" version to match my 617.
What do you guys think?
I would use this for target and IDPA revolver class and maybe some ICORE.
I shoot more .357s out of my Rossi 92 and 77/357 now than my S&W 19.
yep i love the 357 got 2 of them a taurus and a colt but i was wondering if they make a semi auto 357 i thought i seen one a long time ago think it was a desert eagle or something
Hunting is a different matter, but with today's advances in powders, 9mm can just about keep up with 357 magnum in the light weights.
But yea, I usually run 180gr hardcast over a VERY stout load of 2400. It drills nice little holes in just about anything I've attempted shooting.
Like 2ft of solid oak.
Also worthless without a picture, so here's the 357 slinger.
As light as it is, it's a bit uncomfortable to shoot all day. My record so far was 250 rounds in a day of those loads mentioned.
What is the model in your picture? Also, what model is an N frame?
