Sent my 10 bucks to Ruger.
Got a letter stating my dad's old Superblackhawk left as an S47 to Gil Hebard in '72.
It has a Ruger brass frame.

    But didn't letter as a S47B. B for brass I reckon.
So most likely added later. I can't remember back to '72 LOL

BRC sent me a replacement ejector rod housing (first one didn't fit right).
Replacement works fine :) Steel and tight, original was aluminum - worn and rattled.

Got a Belt Mountain standard base pin for recoil insurance.

Orig grips shrunk, got new black lam from Ruger. Had to fit. Not their best work, whoever makes em.

So............its all together, orig parts put back in (hate the safety conversion hammer- thin spur).
Like the orig wide spur way better.

Do not like the serrated wide trigger. Would prefer a smooth faced trigger.
    Dunno anybody that makes one.

Can't shoot it......since wrist is jacked up. But it is usable now, and looks better w black grips.
Lots of holster wear. Leaving that.

Wondering about holsters. Black hills western hunter maybe.
Worst case just get a Bianchi lawman.

That bluing is not that bad as to warrant a blue job IMO. It is my understanding the shipped brass frame ones are much rarer and more valuable. That would take a hit w/any re-blue or alteration.

Have you asked at the ruger forum? (Good people there). Rugerforum.com

I am no Ruger expert but I have received a lot of help and advice there on my BHs.

It doesnt letter as factory shipped w brass frame. My dad was in the RCA for a while. So I kinda know a little bit.
The brass frame is Ruger made though. Just dunno when it was added.

Its been carried and shot a lot. So collector value aint really there. The orig alum ERH was worn and rattled. Studded bbl, good luck finding a factory ERH in good shape. I did mod a newer Blackhawk alloy one, but like the steel BRC better

Its just a hunting gun IMHO, maybe get it cleaned up a bit, or not. Ill proly blast some critters w it and put in the safe.

I know Ruger letters arent always correct but am not gonna mess with further investigation.

I have two sets of like new OM walnut grips, and one is of squished chicken which is correct for the year. The orig grips were beat up and unusable due to shrinkage.

D’oh. I missed that in the first post. Sorry to have missed that.

It is nice looking. I have an OM BH that, to get that look, I got an extra frame for, then cerakoted it to look brass. It’s a great, classic looking piece either way.

My first handgun deer was shot with a D80 prefix 3 screw SBH ( D is for duplicate ).
    It too was well worn.
Eventually I got a MINT 3 screw, looked black chromed it was so polished.
And it shot like crap (proly why it was like new LOL).

Only Ruger handgun I have now is this old brass framed Super.
