I know this thread will probably just make me dizzy, but I’m going to put it out there anyway.

I’m not a 1911 guy, don’t own a single one. So of course, after shooting probably 30 different guns over the past few years between my dad’s and mine, my son says that his favorite gun is a 1911 chambered in .45 ACP.

I would like to buy him one as a college graduation gift, but am looking to stay in the $1000-1500 range. What’s the best bang for the buck in that range? Looking to INGO for some help!
So what did you decide on? Did you buy something?

This was a course of fire from a gallery PPC competition I shot with my Taurus PT1911 back when they first came out. From the box to the range…..
Left target is 12 rounds, 14 seconds or under with a reload. Right target is @ 20 yards, 18 rounds in 75 seconds, 6 standing, 6 kneeling, 6 sitting with two reloads. The possible score was 300 points. This is 296 if memory serves me. This pistol is a shooter. I understand it wouldn’t be on the list of "heirlooms" of most folks, but, it sure is a favorite 1911 of all that I’ve ever owned.

This was the Kimber I had.
The picture with the groundhog was the results of a 200 yard stalk and a 40 yard shot.
Funny story about that whole deal. My uncle asked if I saw that groundhog @ 200 yards. I said, yes. Do you want me to go get my rifle? , he asked.
I said: Naw, I got my pistol….and pulled it out……it was in a hay field and there were big round bales left in the field. I used them for cover and got within 40 yards for the shot! Lol
He thought I was going to try a shot @ 200 yards. He was still shaking his head when I came back with said groundhog in hand! Lol

I shot another one with a Glock 21 @ 99 paces but, we ain’t talking about "Tactical Tupperware" in this thread. Lol

I haven’t yet, but I’m leaning toward the Springfield Ronin, mostly because of all that I’ve shown him, he liked it the best by far. I’m a Springfield fan as well, although I haven’t shot any of their 1911s.
He'll like the Ronin 45. I really like mine.
I'm seriously think about collecting all 3 full size models as a set. 10mm and 9mm.

So, I got to hold a Ronin 10mm today. Felt just like a 1911!
If I liked 1911’s, it would be a nice one to have. Lol
My 10mm happens to be a Glock clone.
Well built and Springfield knows how to build 1911’s, no two ways about that.
