I'm wanting to get a smaller gun and can't bring myself to get any thing other than a 1911. So if any one can give me some direction on which way to go would really be great. Oh, I almost forgot I would like to have it in 9mm. Only one I've seen is a para for around 700.00.
All great choices, but if you get your hands on an EMP, you might be hooked. It was built from the ground up for the smaller 9mm and .40 in the 1911 design. Another direction that might interest you, think Browning High Power. Still fits most 1911 holsters, more of a commander size, but holds 12+1 over the single stack 9mm 1911s 8-9+1. All that, plus its a touch lighter too.
I have both, though the 1911s are all .45, and as fas as a preference, I honestly done have one. Usually its more like black or brown belt when im getting ready to leave. I tend to lean towards the 1911 for warmer weather only because they are stainless, and easier to keep clean when I sweat .
STI makes a few 9 MM 1911 pistols in commander or officer sizes. Look at the LS9, the Escort, the Off Duty, the Guardian and the Ranger II (listed from smallest to largest). Plus, there is the double stack VIP, which with its relatively thin grips is about the same width as a 1911 and carries 15+1 in 9 MM. Prices range from $900 to $1500 from Brazos Customs.
I have a Springfield EMP 9 mm that's fantastic ........... I would recommend it for CC. But, I doubt you can get one NIB for 700.00. Its more like 1100.00. There are several nice Browning Hi Power 9 mm auto loaders here on INGO for 700 or less. They're really nice pieces.
I would agree that an EMP is what I think of when you say small. The High Power is full size and the standard CZ75 is full size.
When you say small, an EMP is the only model I would say meets the description. As stated the EMP is going to run at least $800 at a deal.
This is why I really dig the Sig Sauer P238. They are 380 but its close enough with a good personal protection round to meet the need of a small pistol. They are like mini EMPs.
Are you wanting a pocket size 9mm 1911 carry gun? The only one I know of is supposed to hit the stores this month. I am anxious to see if it carries in my pocket as comfortably as my DB9. It is the
My favorite gun of all is my STI Ranger ii. A single stack 1911 with a Commander's length slide (actually 4.15 in), bull barrell on a government sized frame. Mine is 9mm, but also comes in .40 S&W and .45ACP. It's made in the USA. This baby has an engineering marvel of a trigger. It is without a doubt, by far the sweetest trigger action I own... It just begs you to shoot it. You can't go wrong with a Ranger ii.
