In the spring of 1962 I bought the then new to market Colt Gold Cup 1911. It was Colt's answer to the custom built match guns by Al Dinan and others. On my first range trip it went full auto with all 5 rounds. I tried another 5 round mag with the same result. Since I was about an hour's drive...
I use an Advantage Arms target conversion on my 9mm STI Trojan frame with zero problems. It is incredibly accurate with CCI standard velocity ammunition. The design of the Advantage Arms conversion target model makes it inherently more accurate than the Kimber.
Back when I used to be able to shoot skeet I switched to the 28 ga. to ease the stress on my arthritic shoulder. I shot it as well as I did the I did the 12 ga. Tremendous reduction in discomfort.
Churchmouse has had some very interesting and accurate comments on the Python. Hopefully he will direct you to his previous comments. I'm not smart enough to do this but you should find them one way or another. I have owned several Pythons over the years and have gotten rid of all of them but...
Found them! Talonhooks.com. They are as good as their web page says. Hooks lock into place, can easily be removed with a screwdriver and the design is patented so that they are the only ones that can make them. I don't remember the cost, but they are the best I have found.Hope this helps.
The door of my Johnson came with pegboard. I came across very sturdy nylon hooks that really mount firmly to the door and don't mar handgun finishes.
Unfortunately, I have a disability (old age) that won"t let me remember the name of the maker. I told Johnson about them so maybe he can help...
I envy someone who has the skill and patience to do a really great job like that. You might want to google "Who ever saw a broken LeFever". That was, I think, their most common advertising slogan. At least that's the only one I remember. You might enjoy reading up on it. Again, congratulations...
The Winchester factory powder for the 28ga AA was Win 540. It is now sold by Hodgdon as HS-6. I used it for years while I was still physically able to shoot skeet. It worked perfectly in a Rem 1100 as well as my o/u. I don't remember the charge weight as I haven't loaded any 28ga in 15 or so...
If the same powder drop measured 18.1 gr. and then was 17.2 when remeasured, you have a scale or technique problem. Stray ai currents can cause this sort of inconsistency.
