skip the 300 blk go for the 458 I spent a lot of time and money trying to get a 11" bbl 300 blk real quiet factory rem otm ammo custom loads 6-7 different powders bullets you name it only to find out I needed to go to 16" to get it done and still not impressed with the subsonic 300 blk loads IMO...
tried 2 bbls first was AAC 9" 2nd was Novenske 10"
did you read tried opening the port and that didn't work ? it's not over gassing and powder I tried all the "approved" powders AND several others people have had luck with
9" bbl setup used a pistol gas system and was picky on what ammo would function and lock the bolt back ! (tried several buffers, springs and even opening the gas port in the end still not reliable enough for me ) Rem OTM factory loads would do it but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it seamed...
yea "optimized for 9" bbl" maybe for supers
but if you want it super quiet you need 16 " bbl been down that road
spent a lot of time and money trying every powder, weight, bullet combo I could find
none of them are very quiet in a 9" BBL I ended up trading the 9" bbl for 16"
lots of claims on...
yes the shorter bbl makes a LOT more noise
I got to shoot a 16" before i started my build but i went with 10.5 bbl boy was that a mistake couldnt get it as quiet went through dozens of loads 8-9 powders trying to get it as quiet as the 16" it cant be done I ended up buying a 16" bbl
IMO...
I've a got a gemtech 9mm multimount for mine if you want to shoot one before you buy one
BTW 16" 300 blk is crazy quiet as quiet as a supressed 22 imo i had a 10.5 but couldnt get it as quiet as i liked
