What's on your Christmas list this year?

Ditto. I think a 1911 is at the top of my list.

Birthday of a great rifle this year.

This is amazing. I can't think of another man-made item that functions as well as a mosin after this length of time with minimal maintenance.

      1911 Caliber Preference

      Definitely .45

Should I refinance now or later?

I'm totally with ya in the conservative department. It's just too difficult to predict the future. "Fixed, known and measurable." Love it.

      This might make you laugh.

Hate to break it too you, but video games aren't meant to be realistic. They wouldn't be fun if every shot was fatal.

      This might make you laugh.

Playing zombies on black ops actually fueled my appetite for firearms. For some reason I got this insatiable desire for an m14...I had to settle for a 91/30!

Should I refinance now or later?

I would suggest to refinance with a 15 year fixed. You would still save money (even if you do pay it off in 3 years) and would have the security of a relatively low payment even if interest rates skyrocket and your income changes. Kudos to you for desiring to get rid of that house payment. Debt...

What is your favorite Russian Weapon?

Great question! Since I'm still a rifle newbie I'm gonna have to go with the mosin family. Durability, affordability, blah blah blah. The sks is a close second though.

US Debt vs Family Debt ~ simple view of our problem

I very much appreciate this. It's difficult to understand the concept of the problem when we keep talking in billions and trillions. This is a fun little video that gives a good visual to the problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWt8hTayupE

      1-year Supply Dehydrated & Freeze-Dried Food For 1 Person - $999

Correct...but a serving of meat is what, 2-3oz these days? I think they are referring to serving sizes of different food groups (like the food pyramid back in the day).

      Tax deductible donation? Consider this...

Definitely. A good reminder to take a few extra minutes to investigate the organization and their track record.

      Tax deductible donation? Consider this...

Don't confuse a good business model with a good charity. Walmart's donations amount to approximately 2% of net income (and a much, much smaller fraction of revenue). A well run charity can give 85-95% of total donations directly to the "cause". Make no mistake, Walmart is in business to make...

      Celery Bog, West Lafayette

Agreed. I have been there and it is a nice little area.

Where do you guys stand on this? Do you think we "deserve" to have access to the tape?

PC guy here -- should I convert to MAC?

It should be noted that there is a bit of a learning curve involved with the mac products. While it would be helpful to "test drive" a mac, don't be overwhelmed if you don't get it right away. I've had my imac for 5 months and am still learning little quirks, tips and tricks.

      How much do you tip?

15% for sub par service. 20% average and it goes up from there.
