      Question about trigger types

i could be wrong, but i think the design is mostly related to how the trigger interacts with the internals. in a 1911, the longer style trigger has a metal piece attached to the back side of the trigger that interacts with the firing mechanism. the shorter trigger basically interacts with the...

      reloading manuals

pick up some "complete reloading manuals". they include all of the data from most of the major manuals for the specific caliber that you are reloading.

most painful things done this year (gift guns)

Purchasing and then giving away two Rock Island Armory 1911 Tacticals to family members. The first I gave to my father for all of the "above and beyond" things that he has done over the years for me and my wife. Honestly, a small price to pay to show him that we appreciated everything that...

      New Sig P238.

update: I shot the gun this weekend twice and absolutely love every aspect of it. This thing will be going with me everywhere. I was surprised that it didn't really kick that bad and was incredibly easy to shoot. Had a blast with it. Now, I wish all of my other guns were this fun to shoot.

      New Sig P238.

Just picked this up yesterday. Haven't shot it yet...but am pretty excited about it. Sig P238 two tone with night sights. As a word to the wise...if you are in the market for this gun, check out TopGunSupply.com because they are about $150 cheaper than I could find anywhere else. I got this...

I know you guys like zombies.

sound brings more zombies...first line of defense would be a small trench shovel and shortly after that, anything that can be used for blunt force. bash the head, walk away...they are slow. if it comes to guns, i'm going with a Remmy 870 to the noggin first, then my when i run out of shells...

Verbal commands: what do you say?

Go Ahead, skin it!, skin that smoke-wagon and see what happens. --tombstone....best movie of all time.

will you show people your carry gun

totally rude. well said and I've experienced the same thing, although I rarely take out my carry weapon, and if i do, it is generally for about 3 people...all of which i shoot with. Personally though, I feel like the question of "are you carrying" or "do you have a gun on you right now" is...

How do you carry your handgun while in a car?

i hate carrying when in my car because my seats are so form fitting...so i bought one of these and love it. fits right under the steering column. well worth the money. Gum Creek Customs - Vehicle Handgun Holster Mount, Steering Wheel Handgun Mount

      1911 video

funny you mention that gun. that is exactly what I have and have been working on upgrading. great gun...but be aware that the frame to slide tolerances on it are a bit loose compared to other guns because of the "mil spec" aspect.

      1911 video

from everything that i have heard, you will not be saving money or end up with a better gun by building a 1911 yourself. Not to say that you shouldn't do so...but if those are your reasons, you might just consider spending your money on a quality 1911 and do a few things to it to make it...

store that carries rock island 1911s

I ended up going down to Plainfield Shooting Supplies and picked up a Rock Island 5" Tactical. Pretty decent price.

      Indy Area

I have been getting my stuff from all over. Gander in Castleton has been a decent place for primers. Their prices are OK...especially considering you are currently paying the hazmat fee. They also actually just got a ton more powder in there, but it is hit and miss if it is going to be what...

Any one else get "made" at thanksgiving dinner?

I've stopped being secretive over guns at family functions. My Father-In-Law and I had my Springer 1911 out in the middle of the living room with the entire family around yesterday....and this was mixed company that no one really knew if they were cool with guns or not. Knowing him, his house...
