I picked up a used FEG SMC-22 today. I don't really know a whole lot about this pistol but from researching online they seem kind of rare? It feels very smooth, trigger pull is nice, and the slide functions very smoothly. I stripped it down and gave it a small cleaning and barrel and everything...
I consider my Mak-90 a middle of the road AK. If your patient, you can keep an eye on classifieds and pick one up for $500-$600. I've seen them at gun shows too. I also like the Yugo M70AB2. I'd keep an eye on classifieds, local shops, and hit the gun shows. Egyptian Maadi's, Hungarian AK's, and...
I've kind of been feeling this. One reason I'm attached to it is because it was a local gun shop find for a heck of a deal. I plan on looking at the 74, but thinking will probably go the cash route. Any opinions on what the 74 might be worth? And thanks for all the advice on what to look for guys!
Thanks for the info and pics guys! Other than checking the barrel for keyhole issue, is there anything else in particular to look for on these rifles? And I'm not sure if he'll be into trading or not, but any opinions on what the AK-74 might be worth dollar wise?
I've read that online recently about the keyhole issue. I would be able to shoot it before making any final decisions, so its something I could check for. Anything special to look for on the barrel itself?
Hmm, I asked him the other day if it was the Nodak Spud and he said he thought it was. I've yet to look at it in person though. I believe it was bought in 2010 when they ran the $369 special on them.
I have a friend that has a Century import, Bulgarian AK-74 with a Nodak Spud receiver, and black furniture. I have not seen it in person but its still in the box from Centerfiresystems a few years back. Do you guys think it would be a solid trade if I offered my Norinco SKS-M? Just figured I'd...
Do the Slide Fire stocks actually work that well? Didn't know it was anything to feel "outgunned" by not having, but I haven't tried one yet. The vids look cool, but always wondered if it would make the rifle (AK-47) awkward to shoot.
I have two, a Norinco Mak-90 and WASR 10-63. I also have a Norinco SKS-M that accepts AK mags. Will probably try to find a good deal on a Maadi in the future. Here is a couple pics..

I plan on going. I haven't been to this show yet, but am pretty excited. Like others, I try to go at least to support the local shows. Wondering how this show will compare to the Coliseum show.
Thanks for your input. I've looked for similar M44's being sold online, but can't really find a whole lot. And were these rifles ever re-finished on the receivers? It looks as though that the original markings are a little faint, but the dates, and MO mark stand out pretty good.
Santa was pretty good to me this year. My mom pitched in on my Cyber Monday buy from Lowe's, a Liberty 14 gun, fire proof safe. My dad got me a MO marked, double dated, M44 Mosin Nagant. Also got a box of Wolf 7.62x54 and a Hoppe's bore light, to help inspect future purchases. Here is a couple...
It's called, Trading Post, LLC.. Its a newer pawn shop, decent selection for only being open a few weeks. I have also seen a few at McDonald's, its out in the country, but I'd say he has the best selection of stuff around Marion.. Hope that helps.
It was a shop in Marion, it was the only M44 there though. And I won't have picture access until after the 25th as my dad paid me back for it, and is giving it to me as my Christmas present :-) It's already killing me though because I want to hold it, look at it, cycle the bolt, all that stuff.
I couldn't figure out why the heck it had two dates on it at first. I came home and did a little researching, and told my girl I needed to go back first thing in the morning and get it. I couldn't get back there fast enough, lol.
Nice. I haven't really been looked at the M44's a whole lot in the past, just ran across this one at a local shop and thought it might be kind of special so I picked it up. I'll be looking at them in the future now, seeing if I find any more with similar markings.
