I have nothing against Henry's or Rossi's. If you had your heart set on a Marlin though I'd take the time and seek out a pre-Remington rifle. The earlier the prodution the smoother the action and finish. Also don't overlook the .44 and .41 mag. both more than adequate for deer and with mild...
While I agree with most everything posted here I would like to add my own personal observations. While heavy barrels do have an advantage from the bench or bi-pod they are a pain in the field. On the other hand overly light rifles can be a challenge to shoot. The magazine Rifle had an excellent...
Back in the mid 60's marlin let about 2000 model 62 Levermatics in 256 mag get out of the factory without serial numbers...........:@ya:........Duce<><
Here's just a couple I own. Came to the conclusion a while back that it is just plain healthy to shoot/hunt with a lever gun, seems to calm one down and lower the blood pressure. I just need to find a Savage 99 in 250 Savage {250/3000}.

Don't know if strength was ever an issue, I believe the 1895 Win. chambered the 30-06.
Ease of manufacturing and field stripping for maintenance was. A few issues back the Rifleman {NRA} published an article on the 94 Win. issued to the Spruce patrol, guards that cruised the timber in the...
OK I've been on both sides. Just picked up a Marlin 882, by advertizing on the WTB board. My ad stated that it was to be a project gun, all that was required was a good bore, all major parts present, and the stock at least all the parts there. A gentleman in New Castle answered, we met settled...
And .22 LR were 50 cents a box and you didn't buy a .22 mag cause they were $1 a box.
Coarse I had just enter the work force at a whopping $1.25 an hour. That was a whopping 10 bucks a day....Man those hundred dollar gun were expensive........:@ya:......Duce<><
??Rod in the muzzle and hit the bolt face?? If the bolt is even partially locked will this work? Wouldn't it be better to remove take down pins remove the lower and use a brass rod and mallet to move the carrier back, insuring the bolt is unlocked?..........:dunno:..........Duce<><
I'm a Marlin fan. Their downside is the in initial cost, upside is they hold their value. If cost is a factor watch the classifieds here and frequent the local pawnshops. I've seen them in these classifieds as low as $150, but you must be quick. The 39's are excellent if plinking and small...
Condition isn't important as this will be a project gun. Prefer clip fed over tube mag, does need a good bore, stock at least all the pieces present, and no major parts missing. Anderson area, will travel for right deal.....:@ya:....Thanks Duce<><
