      I soaked the bit in vinegar for a few days, then scrubbed it with steel wool. After of which I neutralized it with baking soda, and then polished it using various grades of sandpaper (down to 600 grit). The rust blue finish was put on using Mark Lee Express Blue.

      Wish I had before pics. The hatchet is a "Trumpeter" German made piece found at a garage sale. The handle is hickory from my neighbors back yard, finished in linseed oil.

      "Lubrimatic" is the best you can buy, and they are cheap. I strongly recommend avoiding the pistol grip guns and getting an old fashioned lever greaser with a solid (not flexible hose) pipe. It should last you a lifetime. - Your friendly neighbourhood boat mechanic.
