I have a very similar M1, Son and I drove to Port Clinton to select ours. At the time they had a limited number of rifles like yours except they had the original barrels - the original barrels gages same as new! We both purchased one and had them sent to our homes (saved a fair sum of money due...
I would also go for the 6.5 Grendel! I built one for one for myself with a BCA upper, then for of my sons (in his 50's), same upper. His wife loved it so much I built one for her. Extremely accurate round, She has killed several predators (killing chickens on their rural home), at 50 to 100...
Not too worried about it, My home was built in the 80's (1880's that is!). Living room is paneled with 7/16 wood paneling over horsehair plaster and lath, over full 2 1/4 2x4's, filled with blown in insulation, then solid 3/4 rough sawn boards, covered with wood lap siding, then 3/4 foam...
I guess I am an oddball, I have shot a fair amount of both skeet and trap and found I cannot hit ANYTHING with a double barrel.
No expert but I do fine with pumps, single shots but always shoot ahead of pigeons with any double SXS or OU!
Same problem with hunting birds. Shot some friends very...
Tombs, I kind of have to disagree! I have carried for over 30 years. I carried a Colt Double Eagle 45ACP (S/A -D/A) 8 round capacity for 20+ years. I am now 80 YO and that firearm is too heavy / large to comfortable carry and drive.
I now carry a Kimber Solo in 9mm (in a Galco ISTB...
I don't give a shiX about someone calling a Magazine a Clip, or a Cartridge a bullet. I'm 80 years old, my father passed when I was 10 and I was taught firearm safety hunting / shooting by my BIL who had just returned from WW2 with a Silver Star, 2 Bronze stars and a Purple heart. He carried a...
Went to the Tipton Show Saturday with my (adult) son.
Place was full of People - normal amount of tables and merchandise - Prices for the most part were out of sight!
As normal food was great, other than food I didn't buy anything - rare for me. Son picked up about 500 rounds of 20GA...
LONG TALE
Well, I am quite happy with my ammo and reloading status. I am lucky as I have son's that are into shooting and collecting as much as I am.
I am 80 now - haven't shot for over a year due to the pandemic. Wife is at high risk (on oxygen 24/7) so I avoided ALL risks possible. We are...
YEP, I agree 100%. I am old now (80) but raised in a small town -real rural area. Almost every home had firearms (and ammo) in open view in their homes.
This was not for defense against criminals but defense against predators intent against killing their chickens, geese, baby sheep, baby...
In my personal opinion (like Asxholxs everyone has one) the only loss if a firearm is stolen is monetary. Any "Gang member" or criminal wanting a firearm can obtain one in many other ways other than stealing one from your car.
Some "gang members" probably have a larger collection of illegally...
I have used a lot of BLO, but I would use PURE tung oil on a new walnut stock as Jaybird said. Most tung oil sold as tung oil finish is not pure tung oil. I purchased mine from one of the woodworking supply shops in Indy. I know Rockler's carry pure tung oil.
Tung oil was originally used on...
I like the SKS's, bought a few when they first hit the market and were $89 - $99 at the gun shows. Your pick right out of the import crate. I think they are slightly more accurate than the AK 47S. (Got one of those too).
By the way the SKS's were sighted in with the bayonet extended so they...
Some great advice in the previous posts. I carried a Colt Double Eagle (S/A D/A 45 ACP) This is somewhat similar to a 1911 without the safeties. It has a hammer drop so that it takes a double action trigger pull when after the trigger is dropped. I really liked the gun. I carried it for near 20...
That question is like asking which Grandchild is your favorite :>).
I do like my Garand's, M1 Carbine, AK47, Russian SVD, and several AR's (in various calibers) and my LR-308.
Hi, I'm in Frankfort, will purchase shotgun for cash at your price if not already gone! You can Email me at clinton.larry@sbcglobal.net, or phone at 765-654-5039 appreciate if you let me know. I am retired so can travel at most times as long as I can get my DIL to be at my house to stay with...
I have one from the CMP and one I purchased from a private seller. Son and I went to the North store (Port Clinton Ohio) to pick ours out. We were fortunate that they had a "special group" that were their top grade and refurbished but had the original barrel. The barrels gauged as new with...
It is certainly not a collectable nor historically important, therefor I would stain it if that is what appeals to you. I don't stain any of my older collection but do clean them and rub most with a (or several) coats of pure tung oil.
The odds are very high you will never need to use your carry firearm in self defense and I pray I am never in that spot.
However if I am ever in that situation the cost of the firearm would be the very last concern I would have, the only reason to carry is to protect my family members, other...
Yep, when I was a young lad there were (5) 22 rimfire (not including Magnum) cartridges pretty much available everywhere ammo was sold.
These were:
(1) 22 cap (a 22 cal short with no powder - used for inside target shooting)
(2) 22 short (still popular)
(3) 22 long (pretty much obsolete)
(4) 22...
