In Marion county all fireworks are banned as well as open fires. I'm not sure how, since the 2006 fireworks law precludes it, but it seems to be more to keep idiots from burning the city to the ground
I was driving north on Pendleton Pike in Indy about 45 minutes ago coming home from downtown fireworks. A small group in a auto repair shop parking lot is shooting BIG stuff off over the road. Big boom and colored stars blasting all over us as we drive by. A Lawrence cop is parked a block away...
I think the "9mm not enough" argument arises from situations where the attacker was hell-bent determined to kill and the defender wasn't able to put shots where they needed to go. The larger ammo *may* deter better.. or not. Like most have said before... it *all* depends on where you place your...
I saw advertisements for gun training classes from a NEW gun shop in Fortville IN (NE of Indy)...

I have hiked a part of the Knobstone from Delaney Park south. It's quite rugged and you won't see many others on the trail... especially if you go Mon thru Fri. Also there is a small lake at Delaney Park to fish. The caveat for the KT is that you have to carry all your water. There aren't many...
The old adage "you get what you pay for" really applies to tents... especially no-name or some discounter's brand. The real test is what it will do in a down-pour with some wind. The cheap stuff is great as long as the weather is dry... I like my Eureka Timberline (4-man, really nice for 2)...
Stoner Holsters in Middletown, OH make a good pocket holster for the back hip or front pocket... They have a plain flat leather panel that prevents 'printing'. Take a look, this link shows a generic small semi-auto, but they make the same thing for the P238. In the hip pocket, it 'prints' like...
:yesway: on this advice. Did this myself with some kids who weren't ready for backpacking but wanted a good wilderness afternoon hike. The fire-tower was cool and it's definitely UP there above the tree-tops. Hardin Ridge is a great camp ground in it's own right
The security-six is a fine revolver, I love shooting it, but a 4 inch barrel with factory wood grips are only comfortable for 38 spl. Full house 357 magnums with those grips will make you say "WHOA!"
Just HOLD ON TIGHT! :D or change 'em out for some Hogue's etc.
No kidding around when it comes to mosquitos, look into a ThermaCell great if sitting around in camp in calm... they actually WORK!! even in MN on the state bird  ie mosquito
Can get them at WalMart
I also belong to ACC and can tell you that there is a nice but small campground nearby called White River Campground. It has campsites right along the White River. There are lots of RVs but a couple tent sites off to the side at the back. Its' on Strawtown Rd (aka 234 St) and runs between SR 19...
I don't trust anything (like a pistol vault) with batteries. So I bought a V-Line "Compact" mechanical lock-box (key-less) that is screwed and wire-locked to the bedside drawer and furniture. If thieves have enough time, it's theirs, but it will keep little ones out and it will still be ready...
Here is a video from Caleb of Gun Nuts Media (and Top Shot fame or infamy?) shooting a IDPA match with a revolver...

ditto what gunman41mag and bj say... I have some Red Dot from the mid 80's and I still use it occassionaly to load 38 special and everything is hunky-dory. Modern smokeless powder is really "extruded high explosive" and not likely to degrade much unless stored in a *very* adverse environment...
I read once that microstamping was done at the factory on each round... like a micro-film sized serial number stamped on at the factory. (Now you can see why it's unfeasible and expensive) Once the law passes all ammo used anywhere has to be stamped and all sales are tracked by lot no. to whom...
Next steel match, we need to setup one of these... a *swinging* texas star*. It's not enough to have to shoot plates moving in a circle, they need to swing side-to-side at the same time! What sadist thought this up? :D
yeah, I saw the movie here in Indy at the Keystone Arts Theatre at the Crossing a few weeks ago. It ends this Thurs (3/15). You really have to pay attention or you miss a lot. Most of the story involves some thinking. I really enjoyed it too. The other bonus is that the Arts theatre has a bar...
