Hey doddg, you might want to consider an Athlon Argos BTR 8-34 x 56 scope. I got one off of e-bay for $265. Easy to see 22 holes in the black and one less piece of gear to lug around.
I think you should go for AR-10 in 308. They will out shoot any other battle rifle out there if you put a good barrel on it and you can put one together for less $$$$ than any other.
You can also build a 243, 260, or 7-08 extra upper to play with when you get bored hitting the target every time...
BOY O BOY, Lots of good advice, so much I did not read it all. Check out Rual King here in Lafayette. Sometimes they have the S&W M&P Sport on sale dirt cheap and it is hard to beat.
Bear Creek Arsenal had AR-10 .243 heavy barrels on sale for $100. I do not need one but for $100, what the heck.
I put it together and after some load development it is shooting 3/4 to 1 MOA. Best group so far, 87gr vmax, 4 out of 5 in .55" at 150 yards.
Still have a lot of work to do but man oh...
RSR group has the Bushnell fixed 10x mil-dot on sale for $135.
That is a great price for a great scope. They are super clear, repeatable, hold zero, and are tough.
I just got 2 from MGE wholesale. I would rate them good +. Matching numbers, bores worn but shiny no pits, blue worn in spots, no deep pits just light freckling in spots. Overall I am pleased with them for dealer cost of $250 each. I have always wanted one, had a Helwan copy but those were not...
My first side charger was a Bear Creek and I liked it so much I have had my gunsmith make me 3 more and after friends shot mine they have had him convert theirs.
It is easy and cheap, he just mills a slot back from the ejection port ( slick side upper ) and taps the bolt carrier. Bear Creek uses...
I cannot fault the Lee dies, my buddy was sizing his brass on my press and did not get the importance of getting the case all the way in the shellholder. He punched clear thru the web on one and the pin rolled up on the next one. I was impressed with how tough that pin is. Got it taken care of...
I need to process 1000 pcs. of once fired mil. 308 cases this weekend. That is why I do not want to order a part. If there is no shop in Indy that has one, I will buy a spare set of dies.
Does anybody know of a shop that would carry Lee die parts?
I need the decapping stem for the Lee full length sizing die for 308.
Hoping to get now so I do not have to order.
I came across 8 copies of National Geographic magazines from 44, 45, and 46 and enjoyed looking them over.
Lots of cool stuff in them. Anyway, I hate to just throw them away, so if anybody around Lafayette wants them they can have them.
I do not want to ship them.
All good stuff above and I will add, if you think you might be running high then use one single case and reload it over and over till the primer pocket gets loose. If I get 10 or more loads than it is not TOO hot. Watch for other signs as well.
I think it is pretty simple.
If you do not want Trump to win reelection, you are for keeping the lockdown in place. A destroyed economy is the Dems only hope to win.
If you are for Trump, you are aware that this is overblown media hype, so open up.
I think the AR would be great in 6 or 6.5 CM
With a match grade barrel the AR will shoot with a bolt gun. When I decide on 6 or 6.5, then I will decide on bolt or AR. To me the only reason I might go bolt is it is easier on the brass.
