Some, a very few, were made to accept AK mags, but I've personally not seen one.
Others take duck billed aftermarket mags which may or may not function.
Your best bet is to find a stock 10 round. I've never seen a malfunction with one of those, and they reload very quickly with stripper clips. The clips are not expensive and you can discard them in battle.
I'm of the firm belief that the SKS is one of the best battle rifles (NOT main battle rifle) that has been made, esp for us folks who can't own full auto.
I believe it's only topped by the AR-15 in 6.8. The downside of both of these, however, is that they have the detachable mags that can be lost. The M1 Garand would be preferable in a shortened version, but its .30-06 cartridge takes it out of the same class and into the main battle rifles.
