I see, that I can completely understand. I guess I misread the op.I'm pretty sure it was about a strange man trespassing and continuing to approach a woman and a child on THEIR property without permission, after being told to stop/leave.

Huge over-reaction to some schmuck trying to sell some junk beef. Do they start pulling out the shotguns and body armor when they see the lawn care guy coming??
What does Buster do to Girl Scouts that hustle cookies?

I hope your wife or girlfriend or even you would have the presence of mind to be able to tell when somthing or someone, "just don't feel right".
The OP stated that people with no ill intentions do not set off the dog's fight sense. This man did. His wife felt uneasy, the dog felt uneasy and both went into attack mode. Over reaction, or did they just prevent a robbery or worse? Thankfully we may never know.
OP your wife did good.[/QUO
Since Mom was flying off the handle, the dog can tell she is tense and that is what triggers a dogs fight instinct. If there were no over reaction the dog probably wouldn't have acted like that. I realize those garbage meat salesmen are slime balls, but from my interpretation of what went down it was blown WAY out of proportion.
When those meat salesmen come to my door I let them give me the whole BS sales pitch. They open a case of the meat and spread it out and show me how "great" it looks. Then I tell them there is no way I'd ever buy that garbage and shut the door on them. That's all it takes and you really get to tick them off for wasting their time. As a bonus, they don't come back! But I guess threatening to shoot them would work, too. If that's how you handle that kind of thing.

This is horse like I said I know in Roselawn there are people selling meat out of a truck, and going back and robbing the people after seeing what they have. If you tell someone to leave three times and they dont, thats a problem.
Uncle Jrod; said:Forget what the guy was doing there !
When the tenant / homeowner / HMFIC of the property asks / tells you to leave three times , THAT right there should've been then end of it .
In the few weeks I have been here on INGO, it has helped me more clearly see
the line between "firearms enthusiast" and "gun nut (in the liberal sense)."

so you panic over a guy trying to sell beef? The description sounds like a guy who does this In our local area, he can be annoying but I'm sure all that had to be done was offer to call the police if he refuses to leave.

That's insulting and, well, STUPID
Do you carry a weapon? If so, when would you use it?
To answer your questions: No. And, to make holes paper.
