Hit Driftwood PFA today, 3 bass, about 8, 9, and close to 12 inches, and one heck of a crappie. Water was murky and brown.

Menu of the day was chartreuse generic minnows and bright perch patterns, and spinners.

spent 8.5 hours on Monroe today. 7 bass of various size, nothing big yet though.

Water is 56 degrees, they should be moving up in the next week or two if it heats up.

Smaller bodies of water are already hitting 60 and fish are fat.

I went out today! because of the river flooding the road to get back to my fishing spot was blocked off to the island i fish at so i had to back pack in. On the whole walk in i felt like Jeremy Wade in that recent river monster episode where he goes into Chernobyl alone. I didnt catch anything but got a couple hits. It was one of my best fishing trips though just because it felt like the whole place was mine.

Finally got out for the first time this year. I only got out a couple times last year and I promised myself that wouldn't happen this year. So far so good.

Went and picked up some new gear today. Bought a $10 dollar frog that i was so excited about. i ended up going out to the river to give it a try. 15 mins in i snagged it in a tree overhanging the river. It always happens to me, i cant buy an expensive lure without losing it on the first day......

Either buy cheap baits, or expensive line.

I like 6lb line, and could catch an 8lb bass on it, and it handled it fine, with my drag set just right. But, the second I got snagged, it was game over.

I bought some powerpro braided line, 6lb diameter, 20lb test. Feels about the same, and is MUCH stronger.

I got snagged, kept reeling in, and eventually pulled up a frikin metal folding chair.

I was running 30lb power pro braided. Its pretty old line though so i think it may be time to put on some new line.

    Report- Fishing yesterday private lakes

Water very high, some pan fish in shallows early with a few small schooling bass. Carp had taken over shallow and grassie areas, spawning, splashing around creating havoc for other fish. I'm a bass man and this was the largest most active carp spawn I have ever encountered. Bass head away, comming back later for carp eggs. I will Waite a few days and then go back. This year has been very slow with last year fantastic, 15 bass between 5 and 8.5 lbs. Miss it!

Crappie were hitting good yesterday on Sullivan. Was throwing an inline spinner the whole time. Caught one bass that was 14-15 inch range. I was going to fish a little bit this evening but my lazy boy was a little too comfy for me when I got home. I finally woke back up around 10pm. Screwed my whole evening.

anyone reccomend a good spinning reel for a 6' medium action pole. Its time for a new one, and id prefer not spending more than 50 bucks for one.

For that $, I'd put a WTB in the INGO classifieds for a good used reel. Google the results by make and model for reviews and value.

If you could spend a couple bucks more I reccomend the Shimano Sedona. I have 3, 2 of the 500 series and one 2500, and they are great. They are $59.99 though.

Mitchell has some nice offerings. I have been using them for years and just picked up an Avocett gold series and a 300 gold series. Never had one break although one went overboard when I was not paying attention. Darn it! I tryed for awhile to snag it but no luck.

Fished a few hours on Sat and a few hours on Sunday, only caught 4 bass, in a cold rain. My buddy caught twice what I did. he was working the bottom with a texas rig worm, I was working crankbaits from 1-4', and toyed around on the surface for awhile.
