To be on target at any range, it would have to be the Garand. The BAR and the Thompson would be close seconds but as soon as you pull the trigger on either you would be a target of interest real quick.

I guess it really depends what you are doing and where.
To clear bunkers and houses a shotgun would be one of the best tools IMO.

Well, I'm starting a write in campaign for the Ma Deuce, so fine a weapon that it is still in service and largely unchanged from its inception. but since its not on the list, I would take the Garand. The BAR is a fine weapon and having shot one, its fun as heck so it'd be tied for 2nd.
