I'm bored so came up with this....if you were to travel back in time to fight in WWII an had your choice of these weapons, which would you choose to carry...?

    1. M1 Garand
    2. M1 Carbine
    3. Tommy Gun
    4. 1903A3...scoped.
    5. BAR
    6. Shotgun

I've shot all of those except the 1903A3 and the Tommy is, by far, the most fun. Easy choice.

I heard that more Metal of Honor recipients carried a BAR than any other weapon. Old guys tell that story with body language like it makes sense to them. Apparently if you have that monster in your hands you are more likely to feel like you could take an enemy position by yourself.
I've shot all of the ones on the list except the BAR (the 1901 wasn't scoped) and the full auto tommy gun is a tie with the M1 Garand. The BAR and Trench gun (shot gun) would be a tie for second.
It is like asking someone to pick a favorite child.

My Dads friend Norm carried the BAR in WWII, he had alot of good stories...WWII VET an my CMP M1 Garand - THR

I had an read all of the Medal of Honor recipients of WWII....the BAR wasn't a common factor as I remember though...good logic though.

I guess that would depend on the theater of operations to which I was sent.Jungle?-shotgun, beach assault? BAR, most others K98 Mauser (OK,I guess the Garand if I must stay with Allied weapons)

Tough call between the BAR and Tommy gun, but I've always been fascinated with the Tommy gun, so I chose it. I'm actually just a month or so away from getting an AO 1927, semi auto, but I'm sure it'll still be fun.

    No Fat Boy?
    No Little Boy?
    Damn.
Guess I'll go with the Garand then.
Can I at least have Colt 1911 to go with it though?

My Uncle was a staff sergeant with the 38th Infantry in the Phillipines and his statement always was that when they started their deployment they fought over who had to carry the BAR and by the end of the war it was who got to carry the BAR. My vote goes with the BAR.
