Okay all, I am going to place my order this week :rockwoot:but I need your help. I am going with the Taurus 1911 however I cannot decide between the::dunno:

    1911ALR (Aluminum with Rail)

or the 1911SSR (Stainless with Rail)

so I am asking for your help...

Which would you choose and why?

BTW this is going to be my primary CCW and I am set on this so please don't suggest other options.

    Thank you,

    Wagswook

I'd think the darker one would be easier to conceal.
But that's my completely unprofessional, it's-all-about-the-aesthetics opinion. :)

Why would you choose to pick a gun with a tactical rail as your carry gun? The rail only increases size/bulk and makes it difficult to find holsters for the gun.

If you Open Carry it may be less of a problem, but if you CC it will be much harder to find a IWB holster or similar CC holster for a gun with a rail. The whole point of the rail is to hang a light or laser off of it, again making it harder to CC.

So I guess I simply don't understand your motive. Maybe I am totally missing something?

if those were my only choices, i'd go with the stainless. if i'm going to hang a light off the dust cover full time, i'd go with the stainless over the alum. plus the stainless makes a much better bludgeon.

Unlike the Glockheads, I'll be STICKING TO THE QUESTION AT HAND and cast my vote for the aluminum as it's going to be a CCW. Now if were not a primary CCW weapon, I'd go for the stainless for both looks and extended durability.:rockwoot:

If it is a "carry a lot shoot it occasionally" piece and weight is a big deal for you, aluminum would be a good choice. If you plan on putting lots of range time on it, I would think about a steel model (carbon or stainless) My opinion is aluminum is great for airplanes and just barely acceptable for a gun.

Neither. Why? Because they are made by Taurus. If you want a 1911 pattern 45, at least get a good one. IMO. All of my Taurus pistols are now long gone......
