So on Monday the 20th I went up to Bradis just to look around and maybe check out the new PAP AK pistol if it was in yet, It wasnt. So i make my rounds through the store and stop by the 1911 case, and thats where I saw it. A Stainless Springfield Loaded 1911. I didnt think much of it at first but still wanted to check it out, but as my Colt XSE is still fairly fresh I wasnt thinking of getting another 1911 just yet.
Somthing about it struck me. As I racked the slide I noticed how much tighter it is than my Colt. I feel the action a few times dropping the slide from less than about half way to hear a nice pleasing "snick" where as my Colt is more of a hollow "thump". The trigger is smooth as butter and tight with no play. Where as my Colt has a little take up and some slop in the trigger fit. The thumb safety is positive as it snaps with a nice load click on and off. My Colt is stiff and also has a little play. The palm safety doesnt rattle in the slightest and feels perfect. My Colt's palm safety has just a little play but does not rattle. The barrel fit is tight with no visible difference in slide to frame fit from side to side. My Colt has a tight barrel fit but if you look closely one side of the frame is just a little closer to the slide than the other.
I walked away from it but that night it started. The thought of, How much tighter it was than my Colt, Adding Nightsights, new grips, more mags, a new holster, holding it and my Colt in each hand and shooting Boondock Saints style. You know the usual. This kept up all last week.
So yesturday I went back, It was still there.
So I put it in layaway.
This will be my third 1911. Is there any cure or am I a hopless case?
