Josh Hartnett is by far the least believable character in this, or any, movie. Terrible dialogue. His smirky irritating face makes me rooting for him to get shot.

That's because wizardry and fantastical stuff were only the backdrop to classic human themes of heroism, self-sacrifice, courage in battle. As a classical scholar himself, Tolkein knew his stuff. Most of the fantasy stuff these days are knockoffs...
