One wants to kill more babies than the other one. That's not insignificant for me. One wants to raise taxes on job creators...the other wants to raise them less.

When the boot of Statism is upon your throat, whether it is a left-boot or a right-boot is of no consequence. - paraphrase of Gary Lloyd

In policy? There are in fact a few distinctions. In practice? Is it distinction without difference. Murder continues every day. The State marches on, thriving especially on the false two-party dichotomy that yields it more power. Don't like what your neighbors are doing? Utilize government to force them to stop whatever it is that bothers you! Both are anthems of tyranny in different styles and tempos and even flavors, but are each tyrannical in their own right. "Do this! Don't do that! Left, right, left, right, left!"

I'm confused. State sanctioned murder is tyranny depending upon age? You quoted a portion of my post then, I fail to see the connection.

Realistically not much in the long run. Both parties are composed primarily of career politicians whose first obligations are to their individual careers, their second ones to their party, and a very distant third set of obligations to those who elected and/or keep electing them. Both parties of politicians try very hard to convince the voters how important their views are...for about a year every election cycle. The rest of the time, they spend all their efforts securing their own political livelihoods.

The Democrats tried to pass lots of new gun control in Washington DC after Newtown, the Republicans prevented that from happening.

    There is no difference.

A common political theme touted by the media is, Republicans are for the rich, the Democrats for the poor. Well then where does that leave me? In the middle of nowhere.

I have to shake my head on the folks who say no difference. Am I happy with the GOP? No, but considering the only viable alternative, my vote is GOP. As has been posted in other threads, unlikely any of us will ever see a candidate with whom we agree 100%. It comes down to basic philosophies. The GOP is supposed to be for small govt, low taxes, strong defense, personal accountability, and opportunity for all. The Dems IMO want to take us to a socialist workers paradise with a select few elites running a nannystate for the serfs (us).

More differences? Jerry Brown, Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Harry Reid, Obama, Biden, Al Franken, Maxine Waters, Hillary Clinton, Patrick Leahy, Sheila Jackson Brown, Wendy Davis, Elizabeth Warren (the Indian girl), Andrew Cuomo, Dick Durbin, Charles Schumer, Elijah Cummings,...etc., you get the idea.

The Republicans are generally supported by the providers. Those who work and pay taxes. The Democrats are generally supported by the users. Those who want everything given to them by the providers.
