I like my Glock 36. As I get older I am looking for something that is lighter. It may be time for me to go to a 40 or god for bid, must I say it, a 9mm. For now I'm still sticking with the 36 till I decide to buy a new gun. No time soon not with the prices the way they are now.
I like my Springfield Ultra Compact...though it is a bit on the heavy side.
Glock has a new compact .45, the G30S, that could be worth looking into too.
I like my 9mm xdm and have looked at the xds.
One negative for it is the number of rounds it will hold even with the extended clip.
I like the idea of it being thinner which will allow me to carry it more.
A second ding with the xd series is cleaning.
I did not realize they really can not be torn down like my Colt 1911.
First time I took the xdm apart, I was very surprised how few part could be cleaned.
I like being able to do a full tear down. (some feedback on the cleaning would be nice) if I can hijack my own thread or if this is covered on another thread please direct me that way.
I also like the hammerless design which is a negative for me on the Colt.
It can be a pain in the side.
Is there a .45, hammerless that can be torn down for cleaning.
Or am I nuts. Be gentle with the last question.
I own a hk usp compact and love it. I also own a xds and it is amazing, recoil is a little heavier, but for a 3.3 in barrel it is pretty on at 10 yards.
I just picked up a CW45 and the price was the big draw. As soon as I get a carry system figured out for carry on the bicycle it will be getting some miles.
I've got a customized Wilson CQB Compact I've just started carrying after running it through enough rounds to make me comfortable with it. I've been a full size carrier for a long time, but I gotta admit it is easier to carry the 4" version.
