So I have a friend with IMPD who is thinking about selling his Glock 27 gen 3. But he isn't sure what a fair price might be..I too am curious because I would be intersted in buying one...and I suspect there. Will be several getting traded in soon since the dept is going to 9mm

New is between $500- $550. Used go for between $425- $475.

There's a police trade in that's been in the classifieds here for a while. It's listed at $450 I believe.

This is true... I would add that:
those new prices are pretty good, I more often see them at $550-575, sometimes flirting with $590..
If buying used, talk him into giving you some extra mags or goodies of any sort. If a good used G27 came with extra mags and a box of ammo, I'd pay $475-500

For me to pay $450 for a used glock gen 3 it would need at least 3-4 mags and night sights. If not I would just buy a new one. New gen 3s can be had for $500 or just slightly more.

    I agree with you tony

Beyond use/wear I would say it also depends on if it's got night sights etc. I usually will tack on another $50 in value for that. Then I look for mags and ammo. I have a gen4 with trijicons, holster, a lot of ammo I'll sell if I ever get around to taking the pictures and posting it on here. I'm interested to see what other people value them at. I think you guys are right on though for about where you see them selling used. I think I paid 425 for a used one once and felt like I got a deal.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, not trying to stir up anything.

When my son-in-laws dept. transitioned from a Sig P229 [.40 S&W] to a Glock 22, I gave him $312.00 cash to purchase the firearm. It had night sights and three 12 rd. mags and a Safariland level III holster. Pretty much only shot for quals or when he and I went to the range. Deals can be found with LEO trade-ins.

Depends upon the condition and whether or not it has good night sights, magazines, ammo, box maybe. A department roll mark or distinguishable serial number like IMPD 001 or something adds value. $350-$400 is fair IMHO.

What will IMPD be switching to in 9mm ?

G17m. Our guns have a serial number of IMxxxxPD, that is the only thing that identifies our guns.

So will there be a flood of used Glock .40s hitting the Indy market in the coming months as IMPD switches over to 9mm, i.e. if I'm even remotely interested in a Glock 22, 23 or 27 does it make sense to wait a few more months until the department and possibly personal trade-ins hit the market? During previous department switchovers has this made a temporary change in the local used market?

In the last few months, I've bought 2 used police trade in glocks from a local gun shop. Both were in great shape and looked to be carried very little. $350 for a gen3 27 and $400 for a gen4 22

You never know what the new Mayor will want done with those turn ins, or IMPD's policy. Some agencies allow the officers to purchase their duty weapon, some do not. I have an IMPD and ISP Glock, only markings are the IMPD or ISP letters before the serial numbers.
    I wish I had my old Gen 2 Glock-22 (MC092SD).

Oh well it's out there somewhere.

Kieslers Police Supply has gotten many in the past.

The officer I had spoken to was looking to sell his personally owned Glock27 and but the 9mm version that will use the same mags as what the dept is issuing. So I offered him cash for his vs trading it in. He wants a couple days to see what a LGS will offer as a trade in
