If you have your heart set on a JM Marlin I'd probably go for the 1894 Cowboy model due to the rifling. The standard models have the micro grove and the cowboy version has standard rifling. I have read that the ballard rifling is more accurate and don't doubt it. I have standard '94 in .44 and a cowboy in .45. the .45 is more accurate and I'm not sure it's just because of being a different caliber.
