So in a previous thread from a few months ago, I posted saying how I think the 3rd gen Smith autos were under appreciated. I still think that now, and someone I know is thinking about selling me their 5906 stainless with square trigger guard and adjustable sights. I hope so, as these 3rd gen 9's are some of my most favorite guns next to Beretta and Glock. So i got to thinking... "I should get a 6906 as a back up" seeing it can take 5906 type mags. Plus the manual of arms are pretty much the same. I was and still am thinking on finding a used G26. But may think on trying to get a 6906 first if I can pick up the 5906. I have seen used 5906's go for around $300 to $450 but can anyone tell me what prices i should expect for a 6906 preferably with the round trigger guard, novak sights and preferably with a stainless trigger and hammer? But will also look at blackened tiggers/hammers.

P.S: If anyone is going to mention how i may be crazy about trying to carry two all steel firearms on my person. I plan on carrying the 5906 in a shoulder rig with two spare mags, on my left side, and the 6906 in an inside the waistband holster on my right side. Or I will leave the 5906 at home all together as a house gun, and carry the 6906 on days for concealment in the summer, and the 5906 in winter. Haven't completely decided yet. But am sure it can be done.

Hmm so it seems their prices go along the lines of the bigger 5906 series. I am hoping to find one not "NIB" but still in good shape. From yourself owning a 6906 how do you like it and how does it carry? I myself have only had exp. from carrying and firing a 5906 that was on loan to me from my uncle. But would love to hear all input and feedback on the 6906 series.:D

I paid about $400 at the 1500 for a good cond. 6906 a year or so ago. I just purchased a 6904 in good condition but with maybe 80% cond on the slide finish from holster wear for $375.

Mags will run around $25-30 when you can find them, so keep that in mind if you can get a deal with more than one or two.

I carry both my 1911's sometimes in the same manner so maybe we're both crazy. Its faster than reloading. The 5906 is a great pistol ,Ive often wondered about why so many police dept switched from these to glocks.I'm not bashing glocks by any means ( I like glocks)

There's a pin in the lower right corner of the grip that you must punch out.

The third Gen Smiths are the ish I regret selling my 4506.

Little bit of a thread jack but I am getting about a 10 rd group in 8" @ 7ds. I haven't shot it as much as I'd like but what are you groupings looking like? I am using WWB.
