    Venison Workshops

The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service is once again sponsoring a series of venison workshops across the state this September. During each workshop, a deer will be skinned, butchered, and prepared in a variety of ways for participants to taste. Other topics include a discussion of food safety and handling procedures, as well as an update on deer health issues. There will be a nominal $10 admission fee again this year to help cover workshop expenses. (Free admission to children under 18 years!) The programs at Bass Pro Shops on September 19th and at the Hoosier Outdoor Experience on September 26th are free of charge. See list of dates & times below for more information. These workshops are great. My brothers and I started processing our deer several years ago and we learned a ton of stuff from these guys. Highly recommended if you don't want to pay $80-$100 to have your deer cut up.
