They can’t even shoot thier way out of it.This thread is nearly three years old. The OP was about running out of beer. In three years we've gone from no beer to 90% poverty, 25K Cuban troops protecting a dictator, and protestors being run down by armored vehicles.
I'd like to see a timeline, starting 5 years before Chavez until now. X-axis with dates of news reports: Chavez nationalizes everything, ran out of beer, no food, people eating their pets, protestors with homemade gas masks, people dying because hospitals can't replace equipment, people eating zoo animals, Maduro won't leave, aid convoys stopped at the border, people run down by armored vehicles. Y-axis: poverty rate.
I don't know who said it first: "You can vote yourself into socialism, but you'll have to shoot your way out of it."
Edit: Looks like John Hayward of Breitbart News.
Apparently, Cuba is facing it's own problems due to Venezuela's decline and has started rationing basic items (chicken, eggs, rice, beans, and soap). At least part of the problem is reduced aid from Venezuela in the form of subsidized oil:

What has caused these shortages has been a subject of debate. Cuban Minister of Commerce Betsy Diaz Velazquez blames the Trump administration’s stiffening of the trade embargo with the island nation.
Maybe big media just doesn't want to talk about it.
