A/C Bearing Q's
'09 Ram 1500 4x4 4.7L flex
Factory AC Compressor
I've narrowed down my belt squeal to the AC Comp. Pulley. This is the result of 100k miles, a new Water Pump/Serp belt last summer and a new Tensioner Pulley Last week (assumed problem). The the pulley and belt slip/jump when under any blower/AC load. I feel fairly confident this is my problem.
My question...
Do I need to evacuate the AC oil refrigerant before removing the clutch bearing? I know on most AC compressors the answer is an obvious yes. However I've seen similar compressor bearings being changed on youtube and it was either not needed or not mentioned that the fluid was evacuated. The compressor appears to have a separate housing for the compression that is sealed on the front and rear side, not making the bearing the front seal for the fluid.
Does anyone have any experience in this replacement?
Thank you,
Matthew
