    I had heard that you need to cover the floor of the live trap with dirt so he will think he can dig him way out.

    We caught a skunk in a live catch trap and he tried to dig his way out. We had a string attached to the trap so if we caught him we could drag it out into the field and shoot it. Well this skunk started to dig and managed to lower the trap into the ground about 1/2 an inch. Luckily we were able to pop the trap up and out of the ground, but it was almost stuck.

    That would suit me. They are so scarce around here that I only kill them when necessary.
    Recently my Wife was having fits over a groundhog getting in the garden. I "suitcased" it in a Duke 220 that is in bad need of a trigger tuneup.
