Yeah, I have seen a couple of good ideas tossed out by Que, Bill, myself, and others. Some of them have been seconded by others.

If not decision time maybe just time for simple polls.

One to define or not define bashing and another with some of the ideas that have been proposed.

I agree 100% that this "Town Hall Meeting" was a good idea and a step in the right direction, it has ran it's course.

It has yet to "run its course". We've still not seen a cogent explanation of what "bashing" even is. Seen loads of butt hurt but nothing that comes close to actually defining "bashing".

I agree and to tell you the truth with all the participants in this thread, of which i've participated from the beginning, even though there was some spirited debate at times from both sides I can't recall it ever getting to the point of "Bashing" Maybe that's a good thing.

Read my post directly above yours. I'm not the smartest guy in the world. I'm not a dumb guy either. I would like to think I am of average intelligence. However, I simply fail to understand what is so complex about bashing.

No one needs to know what gay-bashing, black-bashing, white-bashing, Latino-bashing, Asian-bashing, or any other kind of bashing is. For some reason you put "cop" in front of bashing and everyone looses all of their sense.

My suggestion is that when someone posts a thread about what they feel was a positive encounter with LEOs, the first person to post (in purple or not) that it was a fishing expedition, his rights were violated etc... gets to meet the banhammer. It is not the threads borne of single incidents that constitute bashing IMHO, but rather the good threads that go south because anti-LEO loudmouths want to armchair quarterback someone else's experience and put their own negative spin on it.

IMO...of course...let the small handful of individuals responsible for this thread continue.

The only way I'd be good with banning them is if it became a personal attack or there were threats (veiled or not) of violence. And since I've seen that from the majority of that small handful...the problem could have already been solved.

Unless I'm sleeping with them...their opinion of me is really meaningless.

I can't say it has either. Definately some spirited debate and some posts that were a little "ill worded" (myself included) but, I don't think it ever degenerated to bashing either. It's yet another sign that things may be starting to head in the right direction.

I really don't think anything is going to change. There will always be bashing and disagreements here.

Even if the MODS start banning, someone will cry and yell "but what about my freedom of speech!"

And you'll have the regular bashers who will argue they AREN'T bashing, but they don't realize they are too stubborn and hardheaded to know what they're doing IS being a cop basher.

Disagreements are one thing. Bashing is another. There's nothing wrong in being pissed off at one particular cop. But things get way outta hand here. And I don't see that changing. People don't change their ways. History has proven that.
