I don't have an Oak tree to see if the leaves are the size of a mouse ear, or a soil thermometer.

Anybody else in North Central Indiana planting sweet corn?

I put it in to early last year, and only had about 30% germination, then tried to fill in the empty spots it was a disaster.

The ground seems warm, and I'd like to have it in the ground before it rains this weekend. What is everybody else doing?

Plant it I would. It still have to till the ground. Instead of trying to fill in just plant other rows a few weeks later to extend the time you can have good corn. If the frost gets it just till and plant again.

It's not going to grow in the bag, plant it. Mines has been in the ground for 10 days near Attica and is coming through today. the key to early planting is to not go too deep, an 1" to 1 1/2" is plenty and good seed to soil contact. Corn can take a frost and still be alive as long as the growing point is in the ground, thats around the 4th or 5th leaf stage.

I am north of you and planted yesterday. We are rolling the dice but...
Different varieties do better with soil temps than some others.

Ended up planting last week, and got some much needed rain last night.

This morning, I noticed corn coming up in many fields in the area. We should be good.
