You sir, sound like a very decent man who happens to be a LEO, much like most of the other LEOs on INGO. There are one or two here who do nothing but give LEOs a bad name, and then there's Dredd, who isn't a cop but plays one on the internet, he is truly a cops worst nightmare, and hopefully others here don't buy into his little fantasy world he has created. But I digress, Anyhoo, welcome to INGO!And I do consider myself a nice policeman, heck I don't write many tickets, no free toaster for me... Why pester people for the same things I do on occasion.... I speed, forget my turn signal, and even roll a stop sign on occasion. I know a few officers make many of us look bad but there are a few of us out there that go after real criminals like robbers, auto thiefs and drug dealers.... You never know when the normal citizen may have to help get my butt out of a jamb.... And thanks....
melensdad, understand that what you're reading is a very very small number of LEO out of something like 700,000 across the county, from reading several of the posts take one thing out of them, that the officers want to go home at night and their safety is the first thing on their mind. It's like the people that ask do I look like a criminal? well yeah you do since criminal look like everybody else.
Just like any other profession there are cops that are legends in their own mind and a**holes. As far as #22 he's no different than any other anti.
The large majority of LEO don't have a problem with ccw.
you can open up just about any thread in officer.com and find something pretty scary... go to coptalk in glockforum and see some of the same scary stuff
like i said just now in an illegal police thread in politics,,, i dont know how gun owners and cops got together in the first place...
theres a big us vs them thing going on from their side except that its ---us--- who pays them---they seem to think theyre entitled to keep getting paid and obeyed...
im going to throw a party the day public pensions collapse...
your right by the way---we are in trouble...
I'm tired of it, too, I wonder if there is a way all of us who are tired of it could opt out of paying your salary? That would certainly bring about some accountability wouldn't it?Im tired of this I pay your salary bull****. First off the way I see it you owe me about 13,000 to bring up to the national average. Second I pay taxes to so I am paying myself right? 3rd I wonder how many people here are on bogus SSI or disability. Who is paying who.

Haha, you have proven that you know NOTHING about LEO's. You just THINK you do. It is pretty humorous to watch you act like you are an expert when in fact you know little of what you speak. The internet is a magnet for such people.
Don't place all the blame for the "us v. them" since it is quite clear you think we are too different to get along. You are half the problem. We actually all get along rather well minus a few. I for instance am a c&R FFL holder and have quite a large WWII collection. Most of the fellow collectors I talk with are NOT LEO's. Plylodog (Cory) is a licensed gunsmith and does fantastic firearm refinishes and stippling. Has do so for many of the guys/gals here. You will find that most of the LEO's on here share the same interests as the non-LEO's. I have found that much of the distrust of us comes from a lack of understanding/knowledge of what we do and why we do it. I try dammed hard to bridge that gap. Lately, my insights are thrown back into my face as "the thin blue line" cover-up or us "sticking together". Just because YOU cannot get along with us does not mean that others cannot.like i said just now in an illegal police thread in politics,,, i dont know how gun owners and cops got together in the first place...

I'm on a private pension so it means little to me.im going to throw a party the day public pensions collapse...

+1, You nailed it. Yeah, I'd like to make an extra 13k myself, but right now (and in any economy really) I'm happy to have my job. I have had the misfortune of having to deal with the Clark Co. Child support office too many times to count (not due to any wrong doing on my part, mind you), and I'm sure every one of the mouth breathers in that office feel they are under paid as well, but you want to see in-efficient Gov at play, holy geez, they are as bad as it gets, I could not accept a paycheck, much less one funded by taxpayers, if I were to be employed there. I'm not saying all cops are inept mouth breathers either, it just always hits a nerve with me when I hear any taxpayer funded employee crying about the money they make, then posting holier than thou, I wanna go home safe tonight at the expense of your safety BS.If you aren't happy with your job or your pay, quit and find a new profession. That is what people do.
Then there are the people who don't like their job or pay and choose to just do their job poorly. A lady I know was recently unhappy with her pay and began adding to her pay at work. She is now doing 2 years in prison.
If you choose to do your job for the pay you are given, I owe you nothing other than a polite thank you for doing your job in a kind courteous manner. If you are doing your job believing that everyone owes you something, you really should go find a new job.

words of wisdom. listen and learn youngsters.I went and read the comments on that LEO blog and couldn't make it past the first page. I'm honestly getting to the point that I'm ashamed to admit to anyone that I was ever a LEO. I feel every bit as damned extinct as a dinosaur.
Back when I was on the street I would no more have disarmed a legally armed citizen than I would have tried to pull out his teeth. I just don't understand it.
After mulling it over for hours I've reached the conclusion that the only motivation for so offensive a practice is just sheer cowardice. I've never been more glad to be retired so that I don't have to depend for backup on some of these badge-heavy kids. If one of these bigmouths were to confront a real criminal (as opposed to a legal concealed carrier who is willing to bear their insults as a result of maturity and a spirit of good citizenship) I'd expect them to turn, run, and not stop running until they got to their mother's house.
Any LEO who is so paralyzed with terror that he feels the need to do such a thing needs to take off the badge and look into a career in interior decorating or something more in line with their level of testicular fortitude.
then get a job where you dont live off me... where you work in the market where people willingly give money to one another... go be a security guard... thats honest work...
if i had my way,,,there would be a lot less of you and your average would be alot lower...
no people in the market are paying you and your taxes...

Not enforcing your law. Enforcing local law and state code.everyone gets along with cops as long as the non cop acts the way the cop wants...always on your terms,,,not ours...
